Horoscope

They say my son won't be shit
Just another drug dealer
9th grade education
A man on a big wheeler
Zero motivation
Just another deal sealer
A black man in our nation?
Another expert Benz stealer
A future pregnant teenager
His sister won't be any better
Waiting by the mail
For that WIC approval letter
No college degree havin'
GED go getter
7 months pregnant
Bastard hidden in a sweater
Deemed their mother a failure
Two children, no bling
Three different last names
Broken home, no sling
Disconnected phone
Silent tone…no ring
R & B and violence
It's ashame I can't sing
Witnesses and silence
Snitch & Death… same thing
Bruised egos, no peroxide
I know it hurts…shit stings
But your truth is not my truth
No matter the rendition
My children will make it in this world
No matter how rough are the conditions
Move unapologetically in this world
Voice their opinions, no omissions
Learn to stand up to the man
And behind their own decisions
Church going, GOD fearing
Bless more than turkey on Thanksgivin'
Knowledge yearning, intelligence earning
Homework done up in my kitchen
I am she…Strong black mother
Dedicated with precision
I teach them to forgive
who don't deserve to be forgiven
remember where they came from
not like the ones who keep forgettin'
but most importantly
I give them hope for dreams envisions
The truth will set them free
And God is not chained to religion
We choose to live beyond
The world they said
We chose to live in!
